In previous posts, I have discussed how important it is for our elected officials to vote their consciences. An elected official owes you his judgment. See my quote of Edmund Burke and my post on Covetousness v. Justice. In my post on Covetousness v. Justice, I championed the idea that our elected officials should return to the ideals of Edmund Burke and vote for the good of the entire state and not for some special interest group. This latter practice has made us a people of greed. Senator Schaaf has now made us aware of another influence that is always in the back of a legislator’s mind, his own self-interest. Senator Schaaf, in this video explains how a legislator’s own self-interest may be used to corrupt the legislative process and what Senator Schaaf is planning to do to minimize that corrupting influence. Thank you Senator Shaaf.
